When I went to the Landmark to watch White Christmas I was in awe of it’s grandiose interior. It’s like a time machine. It’s one of my favorite places in Syracuse.
When I heard about this party I thought to myself, what better way to spend NYE with friends than in the most remarkable building in town!
40 Below is pretty sweet, it’s a group of passionate and dedicated locals interested in revitalizing and highlighting Syracuse as a great place.
This party has a lot to offer too!
Tickets range from $160 to $110 dollars (which, I know might seem like a lot…but there’s a good chance you’d spend that while bar hopping…) for 5 hours of open bar, live music, prizes, and more! You can purchase them here.
If you’re not feeling celebrating the end of a wonderful year, reconsider. This is going to be one fun party!
Tip: Don’t drink and drive people! If you buy a ticket to the 40 below party, you can get $100 off select rooms at the Jefferson Clinton Hotel.
Here’s what I love about the Landmark theater.
It’s majestic. There’s something regal about being inside the Landmark. You feel like you’ve been transported back 50 years, and you’re at a fancy theater.
So when I saw that White Christmas was coming back to the Landmark Theater I put it on my calendar. I had gone about 10 years ago (omg, has it been that long?!) with my family and had loved it. There was no one there, we sat upstairs and watched the movie like we were the only ones in the theater.
Well…the Holiday Movie Series this year at the Landmark is showing White Christmas and I couldn’t be more excited about it!
They’re also showing a lot of other remarkable & funny films like It’s a Wonderful Life, Elf, A Christmas Story, White Christmas and The Grinch.
I intend on going to see It’s A Wonderful Life (December 11 & 12) and White Christmas (December 22 & 23)

Guys. Tomorrow is Halloween! Who is excited?!
It’s freezing outside, and I don’t plan on spending a moment outdoors…even if that means handing out candy…or even going door to door…is there an age limit on trick or treating?
I plan on spending Halloween inside….at the Landmark Theater!
Now the Landmark has been the #1 spot for halloween fun…they hosted a ghost tour & a zombie ball.
Now it’s time to settle into one of those old fashioned seats and enjoy some old fashioned movies.
Tonight & Tomorrow night from 7:30-10:30 the Landmark Theater will be showing old horror flicks!
Tonight they’ll be showing:
7:30 – Frankenstein & The Bride of Frankenstein 10:30 – Night of the living dead
and tomorrow they’ll show

10:30 – The Shining
It’s $10 to watch both films or $5 if you want to watch just one.
Tip: There will be halloween themed drinks & costumes are welcome!
Fright week is coming to a close, and what better than to have a ball to celebrate!

From October 2-6th there is a really exciting festival going on in Syracuse.
The Syracuse International Film Festival. Remember that Super 8 One Take festival a few months ago? Oh how the time flies.
This festival is unique in that it is a few days long, it has a variety of different genres and they’ll be previewing some really incredible films. They’ll also have some seminars, one that I am very interested in checking out will be Pixar and the making of Wall-E. Here’s a schedule of events.
Tickets range from $5-20, free for students or a full festival pass for $100.
Tip: Remember when John Cusack was spotted around town filming the movie Adultworld? It’ll be premiering at the Landmark Theater on October 6th. Tickets are $20 each.
Location: Palace Theater, Lemoyne College
When I first heard of the Sound Of Music Sing-A-Long I did a fist pump. I’m not kidding.
Everyone knows the Do Re Mi song! When we used to watch the movie on VHS when I was younger (I remember it came on 2 because it was so long), we would sing along with the movie. I sometimes wished that I could be Liesl or Gretl….but only on tape 1.
Tonight at the Landmark, there’s an event that is worth going to! It’s a Sing-A-Long to the Sound of Music! I believe it was Fraulein Maria that said, “When you know the notes to sing, you can sing most anything.” Well, tonight put your vocal cords to work when you sing along with the characters in the movie.
This is one of those interactive movie experiences I miss about living in Austin. The Drafthouse used to have these events all the time,
Tip: Tickets are $3 at the door only! Doors will open at 6, movie starts at 7pm.
