As you’ve all read, I lived in Austin, TX. I encountered some really fantastic and authentic Texas BBQ while living there. From Stubbs to Salt Lick, I had tried it all… but one thing kept ringing in the back of my mind when I was eating that food. It was not as good as Dinosaur BBQ.
Dinosaur BBQ originally started here in Syracuse. We have the bragging rights..and rightfully so…it is so good. How many of you went to graduation parties and there were Dinosaur BBQ pulled pork sandwiches? I’d say 99% of grad parties in Syracuse and surrounding towns use Dino as their catering.
Dinosaur BBQ has indoor and outdoor seating, and in my humble opinion, the summertime is the best time to go grab dinner there. Sit on the patio, gawk at all the motorcycles outside, enjoy a cold beer… I actually had the best margarita ever at Dinosaur…who would have thought! But, it’s not just about the food it’s also about the experience. If you can’t sit outside, the interior is perfectly crowded and dark, it’s always packed in there. There are signs and drawings and paintings and pictures and stickers all over the walls, it’s a completely different feel from anywhere else in Syracuse. I try to frequent this place as much as possible, I do not think I could ever get tired of the food on the menu!
Whether you’re new to town or you’ve been here for 20 years, Dinosaur BBQ embodies all of the quirkiness this city is great for. There’s live music throughout the week and they’ve got some of the best, if not the best, Mac & Cheese in all of Syracuse. I challenge someone to find a better Mac & Cheese.
Tip: The place is always packed for dinner. On a weekend night after 6 you can expect to have a long wait for a table, but be patient…it’s worth it!
