Whether you’re in shape or not, there’s never any better time than the present to get moving. The summer is (basically) here, which means there’s no excuse to be sitting on the couch after 5pm…the sun is out until at least 8pm now and that means you should be too!
I recently learned of the Monday Mile and I thought it was a fantastic way of bringing the community together while supporting healthy lifestyles. I had no idea this type of stuff was going on in Syracuse…which is exactly why I started this blog in the first place.
The Monday Mile is the perfect excuse to grab your neighbor, friend, co-worker, or whoever you want to spend about 30 minutes with. There are a ton of different “Mile Loops” that you can choose from. So switch it up, get out every Monday and try a new one! This gets me really excited because Monday is usually supposed to be the most dreaded day of the week, that or Sunday (for obvious reasons), but this shakes the routine up…it gets you out and about…helps your health, your social life and your coordination skills (walking & talking!).
Here are a list of the Mile Loops (with directions):
- Syracuse City Loop
- Syracuse County Building Loop
- Upstate Medical Loop
- Burnet Park Loop
- Thornden Park Loop
- Upper Onondaga Loop
- Syracuse University Loop
- Near Westside Loop
There are literally enough Mile Loop walks to do a new one every week during the summer…check them all out here.
Tip: There’s no specific time they meet to do the mile, this is self paced…just plan for yourself & your walking buddy!
location: Various locations throughout the City.
