144. The Retreat

Now that the weather is getting warmer, and I’m basically obsessed with spending as much time outside as possible, I’m on the quest for the best patio in Syracuse. (Suggestions strongly recommended).

A few immediately came to mind, but the one I felt should be highlighted on my “Perfect Patio” search, is The Retreat.

TheRetreatThe Retreat is situated right in the heart of downtown Liverpool. Steps away from Onondaga Lake Park, Cobblestone, and Heid’s, it’s got a vast menu (their clam chowder is pretty good, too!), a huge outdoor dining space and quite the nightlife with drink specials, and live music throughout the week.  This is also a great place to catch sporting event’s too…they’ve got lots of TVs!

On those hot summer nights when you can’t imagine being in a hot steamy crowded bar, hit up the Retreat’s Patio…it’s huge and you’re bound to have fun one way or another.

If you’re looking for a good patio, there’s a little restaurant in Jamesville, NY called the Glen Loch. They have a beautiful back deck that overlooks a stream and the it’s dog friendly (my favorite part, but I suppose not for everyone). Definitely one of my favorite summer visits.

I love the retreat and sitting outside…. except if it’s the wrong time of year (basically my birthday, early may), these flower peddles fall all over the patio and into your food. I highly recommend the Tommy O’Brien Salad. I don’t recommend their version of bang bang shrimp – we only got like 5 shrimp total between the two of us… not worth the $8 (guessing on the price).
