There’s a new fad in 5k’s lately, and it’s all about having fun and getting messy.
I had first learned about Color Runs when I read a friend’s blog. She lived in Austin at the time and her pictures looked incredible. She was doused in neon yellows and pinks and blues and everyone looked like they were having the best time of their lives.
Color Runs are simple. You start with a white shirt and you end up with a tye dye one! Simple enough, right?
Saturday, (what’s with all these awesome Saturday events?!) head to Onondaga Lake Park starting at 9am. You’ll see hundreds of people ready to get messy and you can join in on the spectator side! This event also helps support the Special Olympics, which is a great organization.
Unfortunately this event sold out pretty quick…we’re talking THOUSANDS of runners, but it is always fun to spectate 5ks. This means, if you’re not planning on being a part of the fun, avoid Onondaga Lake Parkway at all costs…it will be closed on Saturday until 3pm. There will be no parking at the parkway available, but shuttles will be available at Alliance Bank Stadium.
They’re also looking for a Photographer for the event! Check out Color Me Rad on facebook for more info!
